While there are a number of methods that can be used to extract honey from honeycomb the method seen as most efficient is through the use of a motorized honey extractor.
The unit we have is a radial extractor which extracts honey from both sides of the frame at the same time; no need to reverse frames to extract the other side. We find this method to be superior both in time as well as the efficient removal of nearly all honey, leaving the frame comb dry and ready to replacement back into the hive or into cold storage until the next time the frame is needed. Since honey extraction using this method does not damage comb as some alternative methods will the bees will be able to spend their energies collecting nectar and turning that into honey rather than expelling energy building new comb year after year. This saving has the potential to increase your honey production, significantly as it takes large amounts of nectar to product the bees wax to build the comb. You have the option to participate in the extraction process or drop off your frames and container to be picked up later.
We charge $1.50 per frame.
